Born in Macau, Kei Hong Wong (Addison) came to the United States when he was sixteen. He studied composition with David Crumb and Robert Kyr at the University of Oregon  (music.uoregon.edu/), where he served as a Graduate Teaching Fellow from 2011-2013. He has also taken lessons from Samuel Adler and Derek Bermel at the Bowdoin International Music Festival in the summer of 2012 where he received the Gamper scholarship.

 

Wong’s compositions often draw influence from popular genres such as pop, rock, jazz and gospel. To listen to his music, please visit soundcloud.com/kei-hong-addison-wong. His thesis, A Leap From The Third Stream - for orchestra and piano, explores fusion between these genres and was read by the University of Oregon Symphony Orchestra in May 2014. Collaborating with the dance department at UO, his Dances For Solo Violin was featured at the 2014 School of Music and Dance graduation ceremony.

 

In addition, he collaborated with the Grammy Award-winning soprano Estelí Gomez in the 2012 Vanguard concert series where she premiered his piece Mechanism and Meaning. His works were also featured in various festivals and  by various ensembles in the United States such as Eugene Contemporary Chamber Ensemble, TaiHei ensemble, Oregon Bach Festival Composers Symposium, Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the Music Today Festival.

 

Besides composing, he is a freelance keyboardist at churches around Eugene and Portland and is an arranger, worship leader, and choral director at the Eugene Chinese Christian Church.
