Jean-Patrick Besingrand

 

Jean-Patrick Besingrand was born in France in 1985. He has a Master in musicology from the University of Bordeaux. He passed, with excellence, his diplomas in Analysis, Harmony, Counterpoint, and Fugue from the Bordeaux Conservatory in the classes of Patrice De Faccio and Laurent Soulié. He also studied electroacoustic composition with Christian Eloya as well as composition and in Soundpainting (live composition) with Jean-Louis Agobet and Etienne Rolin. In 2014 he was enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University in the Advanced Certificate Composition program with Leonardo Balada. He is also working on his doctoral thesis in Musicology at Paris-Sorbonne University. He has certification as a professor. He has taught harmony and music history at the University of Bordeaux.

 

Jean-Patrick has participated in several festivals and master classes including Shanghai New Music Week Festival, Violaʼs 2014 at Paris Conservatory, and lʼOdyssée des Arts Sonnants in Bordeaux. He has had instruction from Jörg Widmann, Qin Wenchen, Claude Ledoux et Luis Naon. His music is played in the United-States, Europe and China. He has received recognition from the Lin Yao Ji International Competition, the First International Composition Competition, and Violaʼs 2014.

 

His music has been performed by the Mivos Quartet, the Carnegie Mellon Contemporary Ensemble, the very small consortium ensemble, the saxophone quartet of the Bordeaux Conservatory and by the soloists Thomas Piercy, Vilian Ivantchev, Elsa Seger, and Etienne Rolin.
