Nathan Brown

Nathan Brown (b. 1987) is a Kansas City-based composer and trombonist. He recently graduated from Central Michigan University, where he earned two MM’s in composition and trombone performance. Brown received his BM in composition and trombone performance at Fort Hays State University in 2011. Composition teachers have included David Gillingham, Jay Batzner, and Timothy Rolls. Brown has studied trombone with Robert Lindahl, Lane Weaver, and Gary Brattin. A large supporter for the performance of new music, Brown has premiered numerous works for trombone, as well as served as the ensemble director for CMU’s New Music Ensemble, which focuses on collaborating with living composers.
