A new year brings new opportunities to present the works of today’s leading classical artists, and this month set the tone for what’s already shaping up to be an exciting year for music. Dive in to see how the PARMA production team kicked off 2024.
Back in Action with the Benda Quartet
Just a day after they rang in the new year, the production team kicked off 2024’s sessions at Czech Radio Orchestra with the celebrated Benda Quartet to record works for a new multi-composer album from Navona Records. As the first session of the year, the team marked the beginning of 2024 with a recording of composer John Partridge’s String Quartet #1.
Live Productions with the Brno Contemporary Orchestra
Later in the month brought a live performance of DIMENSIONS VOL. 4, a Navona Records album of works for large ensemble by composers Liova Bueno, Keith Lay, Octavian Nemescu, Ashlee T Busch, James Lentini, and Christopher Jessup.
“Having personally produced this program as a studio recording, the live concert provided new insights, particularly with such a brilliantly executed performance,” said PARMA Vice President of Production Jan Košulič.
Anne Kilstofte at Shalin Liu
Mid January brought the team to the United States for a chamber music session at Rockport MA’s Shalin Liu Performance Center to record Songs of the Night Wind by composer Anne Kilstofte. The piece was brought to life by the Juventas New Music Ensemble, who were joined by Baritone soloist Craig Juricka.
An Early Start to the Holidays
Already warmed up to December’s festive sounds, the team carried on the holiday spirit into January as they recorded works to be included on next year’s DASHING VOL 5. The first piece to be recorded comes from composer Michael Roush, who worked with the Brno Contemporary Orchestra to capture his new winter-themed composition, Flurries.
Shortly after, the team connected with the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra at Ostrava’s Vesmír Concert Hall to record Christopher Hoh’s Christmas Divertimento.
