For many, January represents new beginnings. As a fresh new year commences, we are inspired by goals, resolutions, and a drive to make each year better than the last. With that comes the year’s first releases from Navona and Ravello Records, featuring a groundbreaking symphony inspired by conversations with Stephen Hawking, a powerhouse saxophone and flute duo’s debut album, and much more.

Starting this year, PARMA will now be releasing new albums twice monthly, giving listeners twice the opportunities to explore new music. Enjoy today’s releases, and explore the next collection of albums to be released January 25th!

JANUARY RELEASES OUT NOW

CENTURIA S-QUARK

Stas Namin

For composer and legendary Russian art and music figure Stas Namin, the current state of the world points towards a trajectory of violence and dissonance, as humanity curiously turns from a collective to an individual mind. This dissonance, drama, and the cosmic cycle of breaking down and rebuilding is translated through the power of the London Symphony Orchestra, in an epic performance born from a philosophical spark.

TOKER MESSING AROUND…WITH THE CLASSICS ; )

Hakan A. Toker

Sometimes, not taking yourself or your music so seriously can result in a performance that is more memorable than before. Turkish pianist Hakan Toker proves this point in TOKER MESSING AROUND, where he takes some well-known melodies from sources all across the map and adds his own twist and flare.

I CARRY YOUR HEART

David Holdhusen; University of South Dakota Chamber Singers

It is not often that one encounters a choir – professional or otherwise – whose unity, technical perfection, and musical expressiveness would be a match for the Chamber Singers at the University of South Dakota. The much-recorded, much-acclaimed ensemble presents yet another triumph in the form of I CARRY YOUR HEART, a breathtaking, exhilarating cruise through a cappella choral music from around the world.

CROSSWIND

Tower Duo

Tower Duo, comprised of flutist Erin Helgeson Torres and saxophonist Michael Rene Torres, has selected the works of several notable composers for CROSSWIND, their first release with PARMA Recordings. The duo, whose particular interest lies in performing and premiering contemporary works by emerging composers, has premiered many of the pieces on the album, several of which were written specifically for the two artists.
