Keeping with our longtime mission of connecting contemporary composers with today’s leading performers in classical music, PARMA is pleased to present a new Featured Recording and Performance Opportunity with cellist Ovidiu Marinescu and pianist Carl Cranmer.

Selected works will have the chance to be recorded and released by PARMA’s award-winning team, performed in concert at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, and exposed to a global audience of chamber music enthusiasts and professionals.

Ovidiu Marinescu is internationally recognized as a cellist, composer, conductor, and educator, having performed in concert halls worldwide and on over 25 commercial albums from Navona Records, for which he has garnered praise for his expressive playing and technical prowess. Known for his deep commitment to both traditional and contemporary repertoire, Marinescu has collaborated with a wide range of composers and musicians, bringing a fresh perspective to every work he interprets.

“As a performer of contemporary classical music, I feel that I’m part of making musical history, and I am delighted to be the catalyst for new compositions.”

This Featured Recording Opportunity isn’t the first instance of two world class performers uniting in their efforts to carry on the traditions and collaborative spirit of classical music. Marinescu and pianist Noreen Cassidy-Polera’s recent Navona Records release, RESURGENCE, is a shining example, born from a past FRO and similarly performed at Carnegie Hall.

Leveraging refined elegance in sound and raw virtuosity in approach, RESURGENCE is a thoughtful exploration into the expressive capabilities of the cello and the piano both as individual entities and a cohesive voice.

Joining Marinescu on the future album release and live concert program is Carl Cranmer, an acclaimed pianist and educator that has performed at prestigious venues in Europe, Asia, and North America.

Cranmer made his debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra at the age of 9. Since then, he has performed in concert with the Royal Philharmonic of England, the Gulbenkian Orquestra of Portugal, the Juilliard Orchestra, and several other orchestras on the Eastern Seaboard. Praised by the New York Times for his technical mastery and lyrical expressiveness, Cranmer currently serves as a professor of piano at West Chester University.

“The most exciting aspects of being a performer for me are being given the opportunity to engage with the composer, discuss what they mean to express in their works through conversation, and ultimately find a common ground between their expressive intentions, the written score, and my interpretive understanding.”

– Carl Cranmer
