The PARMA Production Team wrapped up the final round of summer sessions this month, navigating numerous projects with orchestras and chamber ensembles internationally. Read on for the full report on productions at the Portland Chamber Music Festival and sessions overseas.
Portland Chamber Music Festival
Located in southern Maine, the Portland Chamber Music Festival annually gives internationally renowned artists a platform to present a wide range of classical and contemporary chamber music, including education and engagement programs for community members of all ages.
This year, PARMA provided video services to capture four concert programs at the University of Southern Maine’s Hannaford Hall, all of which were broadcasted live. A number of PARMA artists were featured at this year’s festival across all four programs:
Program I: ECCO Dreams
Program II: ECCO Dances
Program III: Reflections
Program IV: Sonic Bloom
Composer Eleanor Alberga’s Remember for string quartet featured in the program
Baritone Thomas Meglioranza performs on composer Samuel Barber’s Dover Beach
Brno Contemporary Orchestra
The production phase of PARMA’s Winter 2022 recording opportunity began this month with recordings of two works selected from the submission pool. Joined by violinist Milan Pala at the Janáček Theatre in Brno CZ, the Brno Contemporary Orchestra recorded the works of composers Keith Lay and Christopher Jessup. Both pieces will be produced in traditional stereo and in Dolby Atmos immersive audio by PARMA’s GRAMMY-winning production team, each to be released on Navona Records.
Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra
The team closed out August productions at the Ostrava House of Culture with the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra, who recorded the works of composers Ben Marino, Joseph T. Spaniola, and Raffaelle Marcellino. While working with the orchestra and various composers, the team was simultaneously tuned into session with the Benda Quartet, who recorded two works from composer Dušan Bavdek.
