As March brings us new surroundings with longer days and brighter skies, so does it bring exciting new music. This month, the production team worked with a number of composers and ensembles, all with a world class approach to classical music in common. Read on for an all-inclusive recap of PARMA’s latest recording endeavors.
This month’s sessions began at Mount Vernon NY’s Oktaven Audio with Sirius Quartet. Frequent flyers in the way of contemporary music, the string quartet recorded the works of composers Mark Edwards Wilson, Liova Bueno, and John Summers during their two days of sessions.
Later in the month, members of the production team tuned in remotely to sessions overseas with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Set up in their new auditorium at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, the eight-time GRAMMY nominated orchestra recorded Bellingrath Gardens from composer Carl Vollrath.
Not long after, the production team synced up with the Juventas New Music Ensemble at Rockport MA’s Shalin Liu Performance Center. Dedicated to performing the works of emerging voices in classical music, the ensemble recorded These Sands are Heavy Language from composer John Rommereim at their session.
Productions ended overseas this month at the Ostrava House of Culture with the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra. The frequent PARMA collaborators returned for four days of recording to capture the works of composers Corey Field and Craig Morris.
As March comes to a close, more projects await in the months ahead, including continued collaborations with the Portland Symphony Orchestra, and new projects with other exhilarating ensembles.
